About Middletown

Middletown, Illinois is a small community nestled in the center of the State between Peoria and Springfield, approximately 15 miles west of Lincoln.

Our history, dating back to the early 1800’s, boasts of such famous visitors as Abraham Lincoln and Daniel Webster.  Two historical buildings located at the opposite corners of the community park are said to have been some of the stopping places of Mr. Lincoln and Mr. Webster.

The New Holland-Middletown School District #88 is located east of the downtown area.  Grades kindergarten through 8th are schooled here, with the high school students attending Lincoln Community High School.

Religious needs are met by the three churches serving in the community:  The Bible Church, Middletown United Methodist Church and the Presbyterian church.
